Episode 18 - POWER
"Did You Lose Power?"
Show Notes
This week we discuss the nature of personal power.
Power:
1. the ability to do something or act in a particular way, esp. as a faculty or quality
2. The capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events
- Can one's power be taken or is it given away?
- What is the source of personal power?
- Is there a point where we can become completely powerless?
- Without personal power would you miss all your personal TV shows?

A stray thought about the "power" podcast. Both of you started with the idea that we have power in the first place which can be given away or hijacked. My observation is that we have a very narrow range in which we make decisions, mostly coerced by our own fears and desires. Real power is being able to make decisions in our best interests regardless of our greed and anxiety. posted by: Laurent Jarvis on 2010-12-04 14:58:34
Thanks for the comment, Laurent! I definitely agree with you assessment of how we best employ our true power. It's as if we give our power to our own fears and desires, as these motivators are very powerful in and of themselves. In the near future we will be doing an episode on "Fear". This ties in very nicely, and I'm certain we will be revisiting the concept of power in that episode. posted by: David Dear on 2010-12-04 15:05:06
